Blue Damsel

Blue Damsel blends the modern with tradition, forming unusual combinations of dance from influences that span the globe. Blue Damsel is immersed in the color of cultures and reflects back that which is most dazzling. Most prevalent in their style is the influence and roots of belly dance, followed closely by the dance stylings of Asia. Blue Damsel is known for its precise group improvisational style, as well as for cutting edge choreography. Blue Damselperform a variety of dances ranging from Tribal Belly Dance, to interpretive dance, to burlesque. There are no limits for Blue Damsel, only inspirations.

Damselflies reflect the attributes that we seek when we dance. Associated with light, illusion, wisdom, enlightenment, and transformation (or simply, change) the damselfly urges you to look beyond what is in front of you to see the truth. They are associated with the elements of water (emotion) and air (mind), thus inspiring us to balance our emotions and rational thought into a cohesive mechanism for expression. The bodies of damselflies are constructed so as to refract light into an array of different colors. These bright colors take time to develop, reflecting the idea that with maturity our own true colors come forth. The damselfly, unlike its close relative the dragonfly, can also bend its wings back along its body while resting, further expressing the flexibility of creation.
